The NHEF Symposium / NYC Radio Show Appearance

On Thursday, November 13, 2008, three members of the Merry Hearts Foundation Inc. (“MHF”) Board of trustees attended ‘The Nigerian Higher Education Foundation’ (The “NHEF”) Symposium in New York City. Through this event, MHF was able to network with organizations and individuals that share our passion for empowering Africa’s deprived youth through educational initiatives and opportunities. As much as we appreciate the enthusiasm that arose from discussions about the MHF initiative to give back to Africa, we would like to point out that it is a great privilege for each of us to be where we are today. In that regard, we owe it to the less privileged to create opportunities for them to succeed. By the end of the day, MHF was invited to participate in a live radio broadcast on Friday.
On Friday, members of the Board of Trustees visited a New York based radio show to discuss Education in Africa. We were featured on Bukky Sonuga’s syndicated radio broadcast of ‘The African View’ on ‘All Black Radio’. Alongside the Vice President of The NHEF, Mr. Wale Adeosun, we discussed the state of education in Africa, our roles as privileged citizens, the future of Africa’s youth, MHF’s successes and challenges, and our current initiatives and projects, amongst other issues.
The broadcast aired live on 1620AM in New York City on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 6pm – 7:30pm. It is scheduled to air on Ogun state and Lagos state, Nigeria radio waves in the near future.
