MHF Reflections 2008
01-Jan-2009

Last year (2008) was a rewarding year for Merry Hearts Foundation, Inc (“MHF”). Amongst our numerous fundraising efforts, we held our 1st Annual Fundraising Banquet in April and the banquet was a great success as attendees were welcomed to an entertaining and eventful evening.

We were also able to launch our ‘Adopt-a-class’ initiative, which is designed to renovate and rehabilitate dilapidated classrooms and laboratories in select schools; renovations kicked off in four different schools in Epe, Lagos State. In addition, we touched the lives of 25 more indigent students during our 2nd Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony as we awarded recurring scholarships to these 25 students – additional to the 12 students that were awarded scholarships last year. In alignment with our goals to effect change in Africa – not only Nigeria, we began to provide financial and moral support to an orphanage in Uganda.

We were fortunate enough to have received some recognition this past December while in Nigeria for the 2008 Award Ceremony. On December 24th 2008, Lagos State Television (LTV) broadcast a news clip commending our efforts and successes over the past 2 years. On December 29th 2008, ‘PM’ Newspaper featured a spread about the organization and on January 2nd 2009, ‘The Nation’ Newspaper featured a memo from the Lagos State Deputy-Governor’s office, commending the commitments of MHF, among other organizations, to the Lagos state’s “Support Our Schools Initiative.”

Our successes are a direct reflection of the generosity of individuals and corporations that share our goals of educating and empowering the youth of Africa. We are encouraged by the support and assistance we received from kind-hearted individuals that complemented our efforts to help bring kids’ dreams to reality.

We urge you to keep the foundation (MHF) in your prayers, but more importantly to continue praying for the less-privileged kids that benefit from our efforts. We also want to thank you for your financial, moral, emotional, physical, material, and spiritual support. MHF will be aiming for greater heights in 2009 so we are counting on your continued support!!!
